India States Kingdom of Mysore Fanam AH1200 (1785). PCGS MS 62. Almost Top Pop. Total Graded by PCGS MS 62: 1. In Higher Grades: 3 - KM-78; Tipu Sultan (1782-1799); Gold, 0.35 g. A superb gold miniature from the height of the Mysore Sultanate. The obverse features the Persian letter ”Ha” ($ح$), for Haidar Ali (Tipu's father), in keeping with the Sultan's honoring of his lineage. The reverse displays the mint name ”Kalikut” and the date AH 1200. Tipu Sultan's gold coinage is prized for its high purity and the calligraphy that reflects his radical administrative reforms. A pleasing Mint State example! Graded MS 62 by PCGS, this specimen is near the pinnacle of the census, with only one example at this grade and just three finer.
