The Zand rulers, beginning with Karim Khan, famously refused the title of ”Shah,” preferring instead the humble title of Vakil (Protector/Regent). The obverse features an invocation to the Mahdi (Ya Sahib al-Zaman), a characteristic of Zand coinage. The reverse displays the mint and date in sophisticated Persian calligraphy. As an RR (Very Rare) issue, it is a centerpiece for any advanced Islamic or Persian collection. A stunning, high-grade survivor!
