German States Saxony 20 Mark 1873 E - KM-1234, J-259, Fr-3839; King John I (1854-1873); Gold (.900), 7,93 g.; 22.5 mm. Obverse: Features the bare-headed portrait of King John I of Saxony facing left. The legend reads: ”JOHANN V. G. G. KOENIG VON SACHSEN” with the mintmark ”E” located below the neck. Reverse: Displays the Imperial Eagle of the German Empire with a crowned shield on its breast. The inscription reads: ”DEUTSCHES REICH 1873” above and the denomination ”20 M.” below. A very clean and well-detailed example of this first-year-of-issue gold type. XF
