A highly important gold issue from the Alawi Sharif dynasty. The Bunduqi (derived from ”Venetian” Ducat) was the primary gold denomination of Morocco. The surfaces are covered in intricate Arabic calligraphy citing the Sultan’s titles and the mint. Tetuan issues are particularly sought after by specialists of North African numismatics due to their scarce production compared to the metropolitan mints of Fez or Marrakesh.
