Kogan was born in Kazan, Russia. At the age of 5 she began to study art and painting. At the age of 8, her family immigrated to Israel from Russia.

Anna was accepted to the Thelma Yellin School of Plastic Arts. After graduating, she began her military service as a soldier in the Ministry of Defense. She was then admitted to the Bezalel Academy of Arts.
