Gili Ganani - ”From Darkness to Light” 2023. For the first time, Gili Genani (b. 2006) lives in Tel Aviv. A young photographer whos abot to join the IDF. Studied at the Arison Arts Campus (fine arts major). The photograph is part of a portfolio of works that Gili took at the 'Girl's House'. Framed photo  Numbered 1/1 signed The girl's house was established in the 1940s as the ”urban children's residence”, in Hod Hasharon. In the 1960s, the Municipality of Tel Aviv moved the girl's house from Sirkin Street in Tel Aviv to Hod Hasharon and the two institutions were united and eventually the place was named ”The girl's house”. The girl's home served as a boarding school for at-risk youth and for decades provided a warm home for a large number of children who experienced a difficult and complex childhood. In 2003 the place was closed and today the place is abandoned. In 2012, 9 years after the place was closed, it is said that a girl was murdered in one of the buildings. People say that the girl was addicted to drugs and was murdered by her partner, in the forest near the boarding school, after which he moved her body to one of the buildings in the compound of the girl's home. ”In my work I wanted to present the delicate, fragile and beautiful soul of the girls alongside the cruelty and experiences they experienced before arriving at the girl's house, you can see the contrast between the girl and her surroundings and between the beauty, softness and innocence alongside the roughness of the building.”
