Guy Levy - ''Melting Pot'' 2018. Oil on canvas 70/60 cm Signed A young and promising Israeli artist who invented a new style of painting - Mediterranean painting. At the age of 33, Guy won the Ministry of Culture and Sports' 'Promising Young Artist' award. Guy strives to create connections and connections between Western painting and Eastern culture His works emerge from a perspective of contemporary dialogue with art history and with the great masters such as Picasso, Gauguin, Matisse and the German Expressionists. Guy has a love-hate relationship with art history, the main motifs in his works are drawn from Arab culture as opposed to his sources of inspiration which are concerned with Western culture. Guy uses representations of music, architecture, literature, and more as means of reflecting Eastern society and culture. The feeling of the cultural carnival contributes to creating an atmosphere of 'revelry' on the one hand, but also carries a feeling of Armageddon on the other due to the use of black humor in some of his works. The grotesque motifs in his works correspond with the German Expressionism movement. Guy connects with this movement because it contained a degree of freedom, liberation, and legitimization for a painterly, expressive, and intense style. Guy ''paints like a wildcat'' in the sense of ''drawing a line on the rules'' and painting in a way that is instinctive and passionate.  ''My first point of action in painting begins with absolute clarity, that of a flamethrower. There is great control and pleasure in it, quite quickly the sharpness of things blurs and from there a transformation takes place from a mental action to an animal action. As a breathing animal I use all the intuitiveness and expressiveness that resides in me and then I can be unfiltered, unpolite, unlecturing. A model Mizrahi.''
