This shotgun was manufactured in 1891 and came from the original family that owned it in England. According to Purdey, this shotgun was returned to the factory in 1892 to have a bend in the stock reduced, and then again for further reduction in 1921. When the current owner received this shotgun, the original wood furniture had been so badly oil rotted that it was not salvageable. He then made the difficult, but quality decision to restock the piece. The stock blank was purchased from Cecil Freddy in Las Vegas, and then the restocking was done by Del Whitman with an added L monogramed shield on the underside. As far to the owners knowledge this is the original finish. This is also the original case the firearm came in that was then also redone by Kevin McPhail. This particular shotgun has also been featured in multiple issues of Shooting Sportsman Magazine. Also comes with snap caps, an oil bottle, and a brush. This shotgun is absolutely stunning with intricate details of quality craftsmanship in every way.
