Carved Wood Fighting Cape Buffalo Sculpture - Carved Wood Fighting Cape Buffalo Sculpture. We suspect this is made from RARE Iron Wood / Lead Wood. Sculptures made from this type of wood are very hard to get these days. This is in very nice condition with minimal wear from display and age. Measures 34” wide, 6” deep, and 10” tall. Getting African Ironwood is difficult because the trees take up to 200 years to mature and are heavily protected by CITES. Because of rampant over exploitation exporting these dense hardwoods involves strict international quotas and permitting. This is really hard to get these days.
