The work depicts the Alpine landscape of Haute-Savoie – with the whiteness of the snow broken by the cool blues of the mountain ridges and the strong outline of dark pine trees in the foreground. The composition follows an Impressionist convention – with distinct impasto, a vibrant palette, and a relaxed treatment of space and light. Typical of Świeykowski are the rhythmic horizontal divisions and soft juxtapositions of blues, browns, and creamy whites.
