A Continental bronze-patinated spelter figure of a harvester, signed ‘Aug. Moreau’, 20th century A Continental figure of a young harvester, modelled standing with a scythe resting over his shoulder and raised on a naturalistic circular base. The figure is finished with a dark brown patina and bears a signature to the base reading ‘Aug. Moreau’. The subject and modelling reflect the late 19th-century French tradition of rustic genre sculpture. The construction and base treatment suggest bronze-patinated spelter rather than solid bronze. Surface wear and patination consistent with age. 18cm tall
