[ART] - Alexander Calder: Artistic Postcard and Invitation from the Inventor of the Mobile - CALDER Alexander - Autograph letter signed on illustrated postcard, postmarked 1957, by the American sculptor known for his kinetic sculptures powered by motors or air currents and and his monumental public sculptures. A visit to Piet Mondrian's studio in 1930, where he was impressed by the environment-as-installation, ”shocked” him into fully embracing abstract art, toward which he had already been tending. Calder addresses the painter Kurt Roesch (1905 - 1984): “…Nice to get your card. Would you like to come out here sometime?…”. 1 p. At the recto, Calder pens his telephone number and print his stamped letterhead below an illustration of a Miro’s painting.
