[HISTORY] - Charles Robert Drysdale and the Malthusian League - BRADLAUGH Charles - Autograph letter signed, dated “June 15th 1881” by the English political activist and politician. He founded the National Secular Society in 1866, 15 years after George Holyoake had coined the term ”secularism” in 1851. In 1880, he was elected as the Liberal MP for Northampton. His attempt to affirm as an atheist ultimately led to his temporary imprisonment. To Giovanni Cari: “...Being exceedingly busy with my parliamentary struggle I forwarded your first letter with enclosure to Dr. Drysdale, and I imagined that you had heard from him.
