[MUSIC] - “Puccini Unplugged: The Maestro, the Marshes… and Tosca” A rare and humorous glimpse of the great composer caught in the wild—with a cheeky nod to his most dramatic opera - PUCCINI Giacomo - Very curious original albumine photograph depicting the Maestro shot during a hunting trip, presumably in the surroundings of lake Massaciuccoli, with a grin simulating strenuous exertion and trousers down among the reeds, mimicking the act of defecating. The conniving goliardic photographer pens below the albumine on the passepartout: “Puccini che ponza la Tosca”. Puccini was certainly a nice man with a strong sense of humour. He was used to writing letters in rhyme and, as a true Tuscan, he also used to add a few slightly scurrilous words. Thus in a letter to one of his librettists, Giuseppe Giacosa, during the composition of Tosca: “Vien con me! Voglio portarti colle mie braccia con forze arcane fino a Cirie (in Piemonte)… sino alla morte inver baciarti voglio i pie …. amo la donna grassa per suo dedre”. Applied on passepartout.
