[HISTORY] - Illuminated Doctorate on Vellum: Padua, 1630 - PADUA UNIVERSITY OF - Manuscript degree on vellum. A university degree in law (‘in utroque iure’) conferred by the University of Padova to Carlo Pece, from Vicenza (North-east of Italy), the May 17th, 1630. Manuscript on vellum (leaf 227x170), in gold and brown ink by a single hand, writing space (175x125 mm) ruled in brown and blue, first leaf with an illuminated border depicting a floral pattern in several colors, titles in gold ink. Nicely bound in a contemporary brown calf binding fully gilt on both boards “à ventail” with multiple gold roll-borders and central fleuron, and corner tools (slightly worn in places). (1)
