First edition of this important travel account, with in the appendix the work ”Flora of Palestine” by BJ Strand and the ”Catalogue of plants” observed by Domenico Sestini in his journey from Aleppo to Constantinople. Giovanni Mariti (1736-1806), Florentine, initially worked as an agent of the English merchant O. Watson, on behalf of whom he came in 1760 to Cyprus and Palestine. In 1768 he was again in Palestine and then in Syria, ”where he studied the morphology of the places, customs, and history of the people, from which he wrote his works and travel reports, including the present 'Journey to Jerusalem'.
