Bound in 20th-century vellum binding First edition of Achillinus’ important commentary on the first book of Aristotle’s Physics, recording the Bolognese philosopher’s university lectures. Alexander Achillinus (1463–1525), known as the “philosopher of Bologna, ” was one of the most celebrated Aristotelians of his age and an early contributor to anatomical science. His Expositio exemplifies the transition from scholastic commentary to a more humanistic approach to natural philosophy.
