[LITERATURE] - The Rebellion of Animals Against Men: A Spanish Fable Manuscript (18th c.) - Francisco de Paula Maria de Micon - La rebelion de los animales contra los hombres. (The Rebellion of Animals Against Men). Fabula corregida Y aumentada per el Autor en esta tercera edicion, traducida del Idioma Italiano. (Italy Spain ), late 18th century. Manuscript on paper, in spanish, small 4to (195 x 153 mm), altogether [26 nn. ] leaves, text written in brown ink on 21 lines, in a single column, in a very well-legible cursive handwriting. Contemporary half brown calf with corners , boards covered with marbled paper (binding a bit worn but firm, heaf of spine chipped). This seems a Spanish translation of Micon's ‘Rebelion’ from the Italian original, presumably by Lorenzo Ignacio Finlen, author of the preface. The work was then published in Madrid in 1808. Micon, Marquis of Méritos, was born in Cadiz in 1735; he wrote several books, all dating from around the middle of the century, travelled extensively in Italy, and translated Metastasio's Dido into Spanish. The present manuscript is sold with an export license from Italy.
