[HISTORY] - BEAUHARNAIS Eugène de (Paris, 1781 - Munich, 1824) - The Stepson of an Emperor — A Letter from Eugène de Beauharnais - Stepson of Napoleon Bonaparte and Viceroy of the Kingdom of Italy, writes this letter to Lieutenant General Count Grenoir. The letter, dated 4 September 1813, is written by his secretary, with six autograph lines added by Beauharnais himself. Beauharnais describes his military movements, noting his arrival in Assling and the re-occupation of Crainbourg. He adds a postscript in his own hand, stating that he has found a man to travel to Salcaves to gather intelligence, and that he expects a report the following day. “…Il est à peine dix heure du matin, et j’arrive à Assling. J’ai reçu en route une lettre d’hier de G.al Pino. Il a fait réattaquer Crainbourg, que nous occupons. Ains sa division sont échelancés depuis la Saxe jusqu’à Adelsberg. Demain, Je ferai pousser une forte tête sur Neumarkt, où l’ennemi paraît avoir deux ou trois bataillons…”.
