[LITERATURE] - BALZAC Honoré de (1799 - 1850) - Family And Favor: Balzac Appeals For His Brother’s Career - Autograph letter signed, dated “Paris, ce 31 décembre 1843” by French novelist and dramatist, most known for his novel sequence “La Comédie humaine”. 3 pp. in-8. This letter belongs to a period of intense literary production for Balzac, who was simultaneously navigating financial pressures and complex family responsibilities. His intervention on behalf of his brother illustrates the importance of patronage and personal influence in securing administrative positions in mid-19th century France. Letters of this nature are less common than Balzac’s editorial or literary correspondence and are therefore particularly interesting. They reveal the private, pragmatic side of the author, highlighting his engagement with social hierarchies and institutional structures beyond the literary sphere. •> This lot is located in and ships from the UK.
