[MUSIC] - LISZT Franz (1811 - 1886) - Liszt And Bertini: A Tribute To Musical Excellence And Friendship - Rare autograph letter signed, dated “Genève - 29 juillet 1835”, by the celebrated Hungarian composer, pianist and conductor. 3 pp. in-8. Liszt gave a concert with Bertini on April 20, 1828. The program included Bertini’s transcription of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major for eight hands (the other pianists were Sowinsky and Schunke). This letter dates from the early virtuoso period of Liszt’s career, when he was rapidly establishing himself as one of the most celebrated pianists in Europe. Autograph letters from this formative phase are particularly valued, as they document Liszt before his later transformation into a more introspective composer. The reference to Beethoven and Weber situates the exchange within a lineage of musical excellence, enhancing its cultural significance. •> This lot is located in and ships from the UK.
