Frank Kacmarcik Fine Press Christmas Collection with Thomas Merton, Signed Magi Card & Numbered North Central Editions - An engaging grouping of three distinctive North Central Publishing Company works showcasing the typography, design, and artwork of Frank Kacmarcik, including a signed Kacmarcik Christmas card and an early Thomas Merton title. Included is The Office of Matins for Christmas Day as Done at Sarum, translated by Charles Hartmann, with typography and cover design by Frank Kacmarcik. The volume incorporates designs derived from woodcuts appearing in La Legende Doree, published in Lyon in 1483, and was issued by North Central Publishing Company of St. Paul, Minnesota. This copy is number 544 of 1,000. Also included is A Cloud of Witnesses by Laurence Brett, a priest of the Diocese of Bridgeport, designed by Kacmarcik and completed by North Central Publishing Company on December 20, 1967. This copy is number 190 of 1,100 and is accompanied by a large Christmas card depicting the Magi, Baby Jesus, and Mary with the inscription, “Magi Gifts to the King Whose Birth is Our New Birth to God.” The card is signed by artist Frank Kacmarcik. Completing the grouping is Nativity Kerygma by Thomas Merton, with artwork and layout by Frank Kacmarcik. It was printed by North Central Publishing Company of St. Paul, Minnesota on December 6, 1958, with copyright held by the Abbey of Gethsemani, Inc.
