Classics. Drisha U’Prisha. Yoreh Deah. First Edition. Lublin 1635.
Classic commentary to the Tur Yoreh Deah by R. Yehoshua Falk-Katz, known as the S’MA after his commentary Sefer Me’iros Einayim on the Shulchan Aruch. Subsequent editions erroneously omitted many significant notes that appear in this present original edition. The complete work was titled Beis Yisroel and is divided into two parts; Prisha, containing explanations and commentary, and Drisha, encompassing discourses and Halachic novella. Published by the author’s son R. Yosef Katz, it includes the latter’s commentary, entitled Kesones Passim.
With two signatures of R. Yeshaya Dreznitz (Reiniger).
R. Yeshaya Dreznitz (1784-1857) was a distinguished Talmid of the Chasam Sofer. He served as Dayan in Boskowitz and later as Rav in Reinitz. Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, he is mentioned in Teshuvos Chasam Sofer. His novella was published posthumously under the title Chidushei Rabbeinu Yeshaya.
