Early and rare edition of Maseches Purim, a parody of popular humor, by R. Kalonimus ben Kalonimus.
For hundreds of years, persecution and difficult living conditions, coupled with Talmudic minds, often cultivated a wry and sometimes satirical sense of humor. Frequently these publications reflect the times during which they were written, with cryptic references to current events.
With the signature of R. Yochanan Giron.
R. Yochanan Giron was one the most distinguished and well-known rabbinical leaders in Italy in the early 18th Century. He was an associate of the CHIDA and is mentioned in the Dvar Shmuel, Shemesh Tzedokah and Pachad Yitzchok.
