Shimshon Refoel Hirsch. Articles in German with many photographs and facsimiles. R. Shimshon Refoel Hirsch (1808-1888), was a disciple of Chacham Isaac Bernays and R. Yaakov Ettlinger (Aruch L’Ner). Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in various communities in Germany most notably Frankfurt. He battled mightily and incessantly against the reform movement and under his devoted leadership the Orthodox Jewish community in Germany was revived.
