It is said that at the time of his death he stated that Rashi had come to escort him to Heaven. R. Yehoshua of Cracow (1580-1648), was one of the great Achronim. He was a student of both the SM”A and the MaHaRaM M’Lublin. His most notable student was The Shach. He served as Rav and Rosh Av Beis Din of Cracow, following the Megaleh Amukos. R. Elazar Lazi (Heilbut) of Berlin (1741-1814) served as a Dayan in the Bais Din of R. Refoel Hamburger and later as Rav of the distinguished Kehillos of Altona, Hamburg & Wandsbeck (AH’U). Widely respected by his rabbinical contemporaries with whom he corresponded, he is mentioned in Teshuvos Chasam Sofer. Author of Sefer Mishnas D’Rebbi Eliezer. Additional signature of his son R.
