LEMBERG 1850. Fundamental sefer on the correct approach to learning Sifrei Kabbalah. Originally published by the Ateres Tzvi of Zidichoiv, titled “Sur M’Rah V’Asei Tov” in 1832. The Bnei Yissaschar wrote glosses on the sefer which are published here for the first time. R. Tzvi Elimelech Shapiro (1783-1841), was one of the most prominent Chassidic Rebbes of his period. He was a close talmid of R. Mendel of Rimanov and the Chozeh of Lublin, as well as of the Rebbe of Apta and the Maggid of Kozhnitz. From a young age he served as Rav of various Galician towns, yet he is primarily renowned as the Rav of Dinov. He was a prolific author who wrote many Seforim on a wide variety of subjects. The Seforim of the Bnei Yissoschar received great acclaim and are classics of Chassidic teachings. The Sefer for which he was most famous and after which he is commonly known is the Bnei Yissoschar. Yosef Ya’avetz (Chassid Ya’avetz 1438- 1539) with commentary “Ma’yan Ganim” by R. Tzvi Elimelech Schapiro of Dinov. In this sefer the Chassid Ya’avetz fiercely attacks the study of philosophy, explaining that at times of religious persecution the more philosophical Jews were more easily swayed, whereas the simple uneducated Jews withstood the test and were martyred.
