Armenian Pottery Plate - Flower Vase - Jerusalem - Armenian ceramic plate decorated with a vase of flowers. Painted and glazed clay. Marked at the bottom with the signature of the Balian workshop. Jerusalem, Jordan, circa the mid 20th century. The Armenian pottery workshop in Jerusalem was founded in 1919, at the end of WWI, when the British invited the iznik master potter David Ohannessian to help with the restoration of the tiles of the Dome of the rock mosque in Jerusalem. The workshop produced ceramics in the traditional Iznik style. Diameter: approximately 24 cm. Good condition, wear. * All lots in this auction are located in South Carolina.
