Armenian Pottery Vase - Jerusalem, Palestine - Armenian ceramic vase decorated with geometric patterns. Painted and glazed clay. Marked at the bottom. Apparently the Joint Worshop Balian Karakashian or the workshop of David Ohannessian. Jerusalem, Palestine, circa the 1930s. The Armenian pottery workshop in Jerusalem was founded in 1919, at the end of WWI, when the British invited the iznik master potter David Ohannessian to help with the restoration of the tiles of the Dome of the rock mosque in Jerusalem. The workshop produced ceramics in the traditional Iznik style. Height: approximately 26 cm. Average condition, restored breaks on top, wear. * All lots in this auction are located in South Carolina.
