Bidspirit auction | 1897 pattern Infantry officer's sword,
1897 pattern Infantry officer's sword, shagreen and triple rows of twisted wire covering grip-- chased into the knuckle basket guard is the cypher of Edward V11, but etched on blade is the Royal cypher of George V -- a combination I cannot explain-- Edward V11 passed away in 1910 and George V was the King during WW1., maybe this was purely down to reasons of economy, and nothing else. It's with a leather covered steel field scabbard.
