Locati LLC is proud to present American Furniture and Silver from the Collection of C Thomas Attix, Jr., who was a lifelong collector of American material culture with a particular fondness of furniture, coin silver, and Oriental rugs. His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

Three Pairs of American Coin Silver Sugar Tongs

A pair of openwork tongs with shell terminals by John Folsom (1756-1839, Stratford, Connecticut; Albany, New York), another pair with bright-cut decoration marked for M. Connell (c. 1800, Philadelphia) and a third with deeply engraved Rococo decoration and shell terminals by Edmund Milne (1724-1822, Philadelphia). 

Dimensions: from 5" to 6" long, the total approximate weight is 4.5 troy ounces. 

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
