Pennsylvania Faux Grain Painted Tulip Poplar Blanket Chest
A Pennsylvania Faux Grain Painted Tulip Poplar Blanket Chest, Second Quarter 19th Century. The hinged rectangular top with applied molded edge, enclosing a dovetail-constructed box having a left covered till, raised on bracket feet. The front inscribed with initials 'CKM' and dated '1849'.
Dimensions: Height 20 1/4in; width 41 1/2in; depth 18in.
Provenance: Property from a New Jersey Estate.
Condition:
Structurally sound. Retaining an old dry surface. The gilt-painted initials and date have been refreshed. General marks, wear, nicks, scuffs, abrasions and surface scratches. The interior has a strong mothball odor. No key.
