Two American Mahogany Armchairs, 18th Century. Comprising a Chippendale corner armchair and a New England Federal carved armchair.
Dimensions: Height of Chippendale chair 32in; width 29 1/2in; depth of seat 21in; seat height 16 1/2in; Height of Federal chair 36in; width 22 1/2in; depth of seat 18in; seat height 18in.
Provenance: Property from a Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia Collection.
Condition:
Each retaining an older finish; with restorations, breaks, repairs and movement at joints. The Federal armchair has a spliced repair to the front right leg, reinforcements and small losses throughout. The corner chair has a break and loose mortise-and-tenon joint where the seat rails meet the front leg that needs repair. General marks, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches.
