Japanese Marquetry and Parquetry Inlaid Table Cabinet, Meiji Period - A Japanese Metal Mounted Marquetry and Parquetry Inlaid Hardwood Table Cabinet, Meiji Period The hinged cabinet doors with black lacquer and inlaid shell decoration to the reverse enclosing six small drawers, over a single long drawer and bail handles to either side. Dimensions: Height 15in; width 16in; depth 10 3/4in. Condition: Movement and buckling to veneers; especially to top of cabinet. Shrinkage to cabinet doors. Scattered small losses, age cracks and shrinkage overall. The metal mounts and hardware with heavy wear, toning and rubbing back to silvering, with copper base metal showing through. Minor bending to metal mounts throughout. No key.
