American Portrait Miniature of William Heysham Sayre I (New Jersey, 1794-1872) - An American Portrait Miniature of William Heysham Sayre I (New Jersey, 1794-1872)   Circa 1816. Watercolor, unsigned. Framed in a locket case with woven hair, filigree monogram to reverse and engraved date '1816' and name of sitter, 'William Heysham Sayre 1st / 1794-1872'. Dimensions: Height overall 3 1/2in; width 2 1/2in. Provenance: From a Local Estate. Footnote:  William   Sayre was born May 17, 1794 in Bordentown, Burlington County, New Jersey. Sayre was a merchant and Senior Warden of St. Mark's Church, Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania (present day Jim Thorpe). Sayre died May 20, 1872 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Condition: Not examined out of the frame. The portrait appears to be in generally good condition overall. The locket frame with typical wear, toning, scuffs and surface scratches throughout.
