Two George III Carved Mahogany Basin Stands, Third Quarter 18th Century - Two George III Carved Mahogany Basin / Powdering Stands, Third Quarter 18th Century Each stand having a molded ring top above a triangular center section with two small drawers, over a tripod base, each section divided and by turned supports, raised on cabriole legs; one stand ending with snake feet, the other with figural shoe feet. Each stand surmounted by a modern Chinese export porcelain style bowl decorated with Federal eagle. (2) Dimensions: Height of smaller 31 1/2in; width 20 1/2in; depth 19 1/2in; Height of larger 34 1/4in; width 20in; depth 18 1/2in. Provenance: From a Philadelphia Estate. Condition: Each stand with a slight wobble due to loose dovetailed joints where legs attach to tripod base. One stand is missing a knob to drawer and one drawer is stuck tight. Each with shrinkage, age cracks and small losses throughout. General marks and wear. The two porcelain bowls are in good condition overall.
