Philadelphia Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers - A Philadelphia Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers, Third Quarter 18th Century The rectangular molded top with notched front corners overhanging four graduated thumb molded drawers, flanked by fluted quarter columns, above a molded base, raised on ogee bracket feet. Having tulip poplar and white cedar secondary woods and full dust boards. Dimensions: Height 32 1/4in; width of top 35 1/4in; depth 21in; case width 31 1/2in. Provenance: From a Philadelphia Estate. Condition: In an overall restored condition. The two board top with general marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches. Minor filling-in to nail holes wear the top has fastened to case. The sides of case with full height shrinkage, minor age cracks and old restoration with stripes of walnut to fill full height gap between boards. The hardware is replaced, although in original holes to drawer fronts. Each drawer retaining their lockplates. No keys. Restorations and repairs to ogee bracket feet.
