Delaware Valley Chippendale Carved Walnut Armchair, Mid 18th Century - A Delaware Valley Chippendale Carved Walnut Armchair, Mid 18th Century The Cupid's bow crest rail with knuckled ears above a pierced vasiform splat, the outspread arms with knuckle and scrolled terminals, joining a trapezoidal upholstered slip seat, over molded front and side rails, raised on square legs with inner chamfering, the side rails having through tenons and pinned into the slightly raked back legs, joined by stretchers. With original yellow pine seat frame. Dimensions: Height 41 3/4in; width 29 1/2in; depth of seat 15 3/4in; seat height 18 1/2in. Provenance: From a Philadelphia Estate. Condition: Structurally sound. Retaining an older finish. All four feet have been tipped and restored approximately 2 3/4” up the legs. The pierced splat with age cracks, minor movement, glued repairs and a small loss to the front. Typical marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches overall.
