Mid-Atlantic Chippendale Cherry Slant Front Desk, Late 18th Century - A Mid-Atlantic Chippendale Cherry Slant Front Desk, Late 18th Century The dovetailed rectangular top over a hinged thumb molded fall with mitered corners, enclosing an interior fitted with a central paneled prospect door to reveal a removable bank of three drawers, concealing secret drawers to reverse, flanked by vertical document drawers, further flanked by three valanced pigeon holes and two rows of small drawers to either side,  all above four graduated cockbeaded drawers, flanked by fluted quarter columns, raised on ogee bracket feet. Dimensions: Height 44in; width 42in; depth 22 1/4in; case width 41in. Provenance: From a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.  Condition: Structurally sound. Retaining an old dry finish. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, surface scratches and small losses throughout. Shrinkage and minor age cracks to fall front lid. Losses to cockbeading on drawers. The feet and base moldings have been replaced. The brass hardware are period replacements.
