English Delftware Tin Glazed Earthenware Charger, Circa 1730-40 - An English Delftware Tin Glazed Earthenware Charger, Circa 1730-40 Depicting three figures in 18th century attire beneath a large tree, birds and clouds in the sky and sponged shrubbery to the foreground, with church and adjacent buildings to the background, having a blue line rim. The foot rim is pierced to the underside for hanging and with Mercury Antiques foil label to the underside. Dimensions: Diameter 12in. Provenance: Purchased with Mercury Antiques, Kensington, London, June 10, 1982. Property from a Greater Philadelphia Estate. Footnote: For a similar example dated 1737, see Colonial Williamsburg, object no. 1855-411. Condition: Under UV light there is no fluorescence. Typical firing and glazing imperfections. Wear, roughness and flakes to rim and foot. Stilt marks visible to reverse.
