Pennsylvania Paint Decorated Tulip Poplar Dower Chest, Dated 1791 - A Pennsylvania Paint Decorated Tulip Poplar Dower Chest, Dated 1791 The strap hinged rectangular top with applied molded edge enclosing a dovetail-constructed box with a left covered till, waist molding a three short drawers below, raised on low bracket feet.  Decorated with tulips and floral motifs, named and dated to the front of chest. Dimensions: Height 26 1/4in; width 50 1/2in; depth 23 3/4in. Condition: Structurally sound. Wear to painted surface overall. Heaviest wear to the lid. Typical nicks, wear, abrasions and surface scratches. The center drawer missing a brass bail handle. The brass hardware appears to be original.
