Pair of Baroque Carved Mahogany and Rosewood Side Chairs, 18th Century - A Pair of Baroque Carved Mahogany and Rosewood Side Chairs, Late 17th / Early 18th Century Each having profusely carved and pierced crest, back and stiles. The trapezoidal seats having needlepoint upholstery. Oak secondary wood, mortise-and-tenon construction. Each with an applied label to the underside of seat rail, inscribed, ”FRANK PARTRIDGE / Works of Art / 26, King St. St. James's / And / NEW YORK.”. Dimensions: Height 53 1/2in; width 20 1/2in; depth of seat 15in; seat height 19in. Provenance: With Frank Partridge Works of Art, London and New York. From a Local Collection. Condition: Structurally sound. Each retaining an old surface with warm surface. The legs and stretchers with old breaks, repairs, reinforcements and rebuilding throughout. Evidence of old wood worm throughout; especially to the stretchers and legs. The needlepoint upholstered seats with staining and scattered wear.
