Elizabeth I / James I Carved and Joined Oak 'Caqueteuse' Open Armchair - An Elizabeth I / James I Carved and Joined Oak 'Caqueteuse' Open Armchair, Late 16th / Early 17th Century The shaped crest carved with foliates and scrolls above a paneled back, carved with a large central flower, the stiles stiff-leaf carved, the outsplayed round-ended arms on baluster-turned front supports, above a trapezoidal boarded seat over a scalloped front seat rail, raised on baluster-turned front legs, joined by square stretchers. Dimensions: Height 46 1/4in; width 25 1/2in; depth of seat 14 1/2in; seat height 17 1/2in. Provenance: From a Philadelphia Main Line Collection. Condition: Structurally sound. Scattered old restorations and reinforcements. Wear commensurate with age and use.
