Charles II Carved Oak Boarded Box, Late 17th Century - A Charles II Carved Oak Boarded Box, Late 17th Century The rectangular box having a molded hinged top, enclosing an open interior, with stop fluting to the front and sides. Dimensions: Height 9 1/2in; width 26 1/4in; depth 17in. Provenance: From a Philadelphia Main Line Collection. Condition: Structurally sound. The original iron snipe hinges are replaced with 18th century iron strap hinges. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, surface scratches, shrinkage, age cracks and small losses. The top with old oak battens underneath for reinforcement. Evidence of old wood worm. No key.
