Three Green-Painted Softwood Firkins, 19th Century - Three Green-Painted Softwood Firkins, 19th Century Comprising three graduated firkins, each having a bentwood bail handles, staved, finger-joint banded with tack construction. The largest firkin indistinctly stamped to the lid. (3) Dimensions: Height of largest 14 1/2in; diameter 15in; Height of middle size 11 1/2in; diameter 12 1/2in; Height of smallest 12in; diameter 10 1/2in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Each retaining early paint. General marks, wear, abrasions, surface scratches and small losses throughout. The green firkin with some loss to the banding near joint.
