Pennsylvania Tulip Poplar Dovetailed Hanging Salt Box, 19th Century - A Pennsylvania Tulip Poplar Dovetailed Hanging Salt Box, 19th Century The scrolled backboard above a hinged slant lid enclosing an open interior over a single short dovetailed drawer divided into six small compartments.  Dimensions: Height 11 1/4in; width 11in; depth 7 1/4in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Retaining an old, dark and nicely worn surface. Marks, wear and small losses throughout. Appears to be retaining the original oxidized and toned brass knob to drawer. Dust accumulation to interior. The backboard with an old horizontal glued repair.
