Five American Primitive Painted Boxes, 19th Century - Five American Primitive Painted Boxes, 19th Century Comprising a gray-painted hinged lid box with snipe hinges and wallpaper interior; a small blue-painted hinged lid box; a miniature red-painted six-board chest with snipe hinges; and two green-painted hanging salt boxes. (5) Dimensions: Height of smallest 4 1/4in; width 13in; depth 4in; Height of largest 10 1/4in; width 10in; depth 7in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: General marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Abrasions, scuffs, surface scratches and shrinkage throughout, otherwise good condition.
