Federal Red-Painted Softwood Tavern Table, Early 19th Century - A Federal Red-Painted Softwood Tavern Table, Early 19th Century The rectangular two board overhanging top above a deep frieze, raised on square tapered legs. Mortise-and-tenon construction.  Dimensions: Height 27 1/2in; width 36in; depth 26in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Structurally sound. Retaining an older repaint, no the original surface. The top has been heavily worn and with a scrubbed down appearance. Significant shrinkage to the two boards. General marks, nicks, abrasions and small losses throughout.
