Haxtun, Ottman & Co., New York Salt Glazed Stoneware Jar, Fort Edward, Circa 1875 - A Four Gallon New York Cobalt Blue Decorated Salt Glazed Stoneware Jar, Haxtun, Ottman & Co., Fort Edward, Circa 1875 The cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim above a tooled shoulder and applied lug handles to either side, slip trailed floral decoration to the front, stamped 'HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.' and number '4' below. Having an Albany slip interior.  Dimensions: Height 14in; diameter 11in. Provenance:  From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Heavy wear and discoloration to the surface. There is a small hairline to the right of the cobalt decoration. There is a flaked/chipped loss to the reverse of jar. Flaking to the surface throughout.
