Assembled Group of American Paint Decorated Tole Boxes, 19th Century - An Assembled Group of American Paint Decorated Tole Boxes, 19th Century Comprising ten hinged lid boxes each with hand-painted or stenciled decoration, seven boxes having domed lids. (10) Dimensions: Height of largest 6 3/4in; width 9 1/4in; depth 5 1/2in; Height of smallest 2 1/2in; width 4in; depth 4in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Each box with heavy surface wear, flaking, oxidation and dust accumulation throughout. Two of the boxes having a loss to the tole loop wear hasp catches and secures lids.
